چکیده

Grafting techniques are being used to improve economically important horticultural crops including Cucumis melo L. This 2-year study was carried out at Cukurova University, Adana, Turkey. aimed evaluate the effects of grafting using different rootstocks on plant, fruit and seed quality in cantaloupe melons. The double haploid (DH) female (H27) male (H4) parental lines Solmaz F1 (Cucumis var. cantalupensis) variety developed by University Faculty Agriculture were as scion three commercial interspecific hybrid Cucurbita (Cucurbita maxima Duchesne × moschata Duchesne) varieties, Nun-9075 (Nunhems), Ares (ITU) TZ-148 (Clause) rootstocks. also self grafted ungrafted parents control group. crossed during pollination. Graft combinations compared for performances measured parameters such main stem length (cm), diameter (mm), node number, harvest time (day), weight (g), cavity flesh thickness rind total soluble solids (TSS, %), productivity (%), number full empty seeds (number/fruit), 1000 germination rate (%) emergence (day). Most have been positively affected grafting. use interspesific resulted high values group however, time, diameter, fuit not statistically significant between Considering performed lower than control. current concludes that plays a crucial role plant growth, characters Statistically differences mostly observed based evaluated parameters.

Sensory and instrumental analysis of medium and long shelf-life Charentais cantaloupe melons (Cucumis melo L.) harvested at different maturities

The flavour profiles of two genotypes of Charentais cantaloupe melons (medium shelf-life and long shelf-life), harvested at two distinct maturities (immature and mature fruit), were investigated. Dynamic headspace extraction (DHE), solid-phase extraction (SPE), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and gas chromatography-olfactometry/mass spectrometry (GC-O/MS) were used to determine vol...

Influence of environmental factors on Cucumis melo L. var. agrestis Naud. seed germination and seedling emergence

Cucumis melo L. var. agrestis Naud. (field muskmelon) is an annual invasive weed in many parts of Asia. However, there is very little available information about the germination and emergence of this species. Therefore, laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of light, temperature, salt stress, osmotic stress, pH, and depth of planting on field muskmelon germination and se...

Modified Atmosphere Maintains Quality of Fresh-cut Cantaloupe (Cucumis melo L.)

Fresh-cut cantaloupe cubes were placed in film-sealed containers in which the internal gas mixture was attained naturally (nMAP), was flushed with 4 kPa O 2 plus 10 kPa CO 2 (fMAP), or was maintained near atmospheric levels by perforating the film (PFP). While both nMAP and fMAP maintained the salable quality of melon cubes for 9 d at 5 C, fMAP maintained quality better than nMAP. The benefit o...

Transcriptome analysis of the oriental melon (Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa) during fruit development

BACKGROUND The oriental melon (Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa) is one of the most important cultivated cucurbits grown widely in Korea, Japan, and northern China. It is cultivated because its fruit has a sweet aromatic flavor and is rich in soluble sugars, organic acids, minerals, and vitamins. In order to elucidate the genetic and molecular basis of the developmental changes that determine size, ...

De Novo Transcriptome Analysis of Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa

Oriental melon (Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa) is one of six subspecies of melon and is cultivated widely in East Asia, including China, Japan, and Korea. Although oriental melon is economically valuable in Asia and is genetically distinct from other subspecies, few reports of genome-scale research on oriental melon have been published. We generated 30.5 and 36.8 Gb of raw RNA sequence data from ...
